Another very powerful afternoon with the drama team and all those who came to the production. We talked to new Christians who are “on fire” for the Lord as well as stalwart prayer warriors who are treasures. We want to remind you to pray for the cast and those who have attended the drama—Bible Translation is a relatively new idea for many of the Christians in this country so this excellent drama was produced to hopefully be God’s instrument to create a vision in their hearts.
We talked at length with one young man who has only been a Christian for a couple of months. He was SO excited about all that happens in Bible translation. He attended the drama last night and was so moved he came again today. “I’m young, I’m strong, I grew up on an isolated sheep farm in the mountains…I can take rough living—I love it! I’m looking for God’s will…” I told him about the need for survey workers…a job that requires travel to earth’s “last corners” to check out language needs.
Another young man from Cameroon studied linguistics on his own and is also looking for God’s plan for his life. He’s planning on going into ministry and will be our understudy at the first CmS Workshop here in South Africa. After seeing the drama today he said he was speechless—“I don’t know how to express how I’m feeling…” Pray for him, too.
Picture #1: The cast of 4 are dressed in black and all have keys around their necks. We-all, as Christians, hold the key that unlocks the Book for those where it’s still chained. Karen Floor, standing by Amy, is the Director of Wycliffe South Africa. She was the one who organized for the drama to happen. Roy and Rose Tibbit with their two granddaughters on the left are part of the WBT South Africa staff and were our long-time friends in the Philippines—they are the ones who instigated our coming! The office here with only three working in it is in dire need of more help in mobilizing Christians in this country. Please pray for God to raise up more workers.
Picture #2: “The Chained Book” cast is Merilize (who wrote the drama), Mishkar, Mila (who played Tekla), and Inge with the two crew members, plus Karen and myself
